The prequalification competition will be conducted in accordance with our Regional Rules and Regulations. Prequalification entries should be submitted twice as both a Prequalification Entry and a National Finals entry through the online registration system.

Photogenic and Modeling Competition

Photogenic and Modeling Competition

A winner and runner-up will be selected in every age division in every category. If you enter all three categories (formal modeling, fashion modeling, and photogenic) your scores will be combined to determine the Overall Elite Model 2019 at National Finals.

Elite Performance Team

Individual dancers selected at regional competitions by our judges and staff, will have the opportunity to work with different choreographers and dancers from other studios, to learn a group dance routine and perform the routine at various times during one of our National Finals. The teams will be divided based upon the dancer’s competition age. Teams are typically divided into Junior (12 & Under) and Senior (13 & Over). However, depending upon the number of participants, additional age divisions may be added. For each Elite Team age group, one $200 cash winner will be selected as well as multiple scholarship winners (typically 10 – 25 scholarships per team depending on size). In addition to the opportunity to win cash prizes and scholarships, Elite Team members also receive an Elite Team tank top (to be worn during the performances), personalized EDC sweatshirt, EDC drawstring bag, and a trophy. Dancers will need to bring a pair of black shorts (no markings) and nude jazz or lyrical shoes for rehearsal and performances.

Elite Team paperwork and fee must be turned into the EDC Office by:
    • June 1, 2019 –Providence, RI or Cape May, New Jersey National Finals

Applications received without entry fees will not be considered complete. Incomplete applications cannot be processed until payment is received. Your studio does not have to attend one of our National Finals in order for a selected dancer to participate on the Elite Performance Team.

Convention Classes

Convention Classes are taught by EDC judges and faculty in a variety of subjects. Ages for convention classes will be the same as their competition age. Classes will be divided into two age divisions – for example: Junior (12 & Under) and Senior (13 & Over). Students may choose to take classes in the next level/age division. At the end of each class, scholarships will be awarded to dancers.

Each dancer registered to compete in the competition must check in individually at the registration table to receive their wristband. Students will not be admitted to the convention ballroom without a wristband and must wear wristbands at all times during convention classes. Wristbands are non-transferable and should not be removed until convention classes have concluded. Students should bring proper dance attire and footwear for class. Registered teachers and studio owners will receive wristbands and are welcome in convention classes at any time. At no time will photo or video cameras be allowed in convention ballrooms.

Title Competition

Title Competitions (Intermediate and Competitive levels) will be held at both National Finals. Providence, RI title competition will be on July 11, 2019. Cape May, NJ title competition will be on July 23, 2019. A soloist may enter one solo routine for a National Title. Each title entry’s score is based on the performer’s overall performance ability, personality and entertainment skills, in addition to technique. Note: You do not have to win a 2019 Regional Title to compete for a 2019 National Title. Title solo scores do carry over into the dancers high score age category. For example – a dancer competing for the title of Miss Elite will also be eligible for the overall high score in the Senior Competitive Solo category. National Title Winners will receive: a custom sash, practice jacket, a crown (girls only), a medal, a large trophy, and a gift. Title Runner Ups and Finalists will receive a medal, a large trophy, and a gift.
